ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OFFICER This newly created Economic Development role will: • Report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer and work collaboratively with County Council and with all Departments; • Create an overall vision and strategy for economic development within the County; • Develop and execute a comprehensive Economic Development Plan to facilitate and encourage new investment in the community and support existing businesses; • Promote the County as a premiere location for business and industry, encouraging new development and growth; and • Maintain regular contact with the business community to identify needs and challenges to improve the overall business climate and support local business events and community initiatives. Your background is ideal, if you: • Have a track record as an innovative "Customer First" leader and success as a relationship builder and possess enhanced skills in strategic communications and negotiating; • Have experience collaborating with business and community groups and the federal and provincial governments; • Are a senior manager in a municipality or complex private or broader public sector organization and you are well known for your highly developed sales and marketing skills; and • Possess an undergraduate or advanced degree in Public Administration, Business / Marketing Management or Urban and Regional Planning; possess at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in economic development, municipal planning or a related area and at least three years of supervisory / management experience. Certification in economic development would be an asset.
