Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician
(Temporary, Full-time) 

Parkland County has a Temporary, Full-time summer position available for fourteen (14) weeks from May 7 to August 10, 2012. This is a developmental position appropriate for post-secondary students looking for experience in managing spatial data. Reporting to the Supervisor, Geographic Information Services, you will assist with special projects and provide Technical CADD and ArcGIS support to the GIS Area.  The GIS Technician shall assist with projects such as CADD data conversion, as-build plan digital conversion, geographic feature and geodatabase update and cleansing. This position will use MicroStation CADD and ESRI ArcGIS applications to enter, convert and clean spatial data.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • -Grade 12 Diploma supplemented by enrollment in a Geographic Information Systems Certificate/Diploma program.

-Previous experience with office operations is an asset.

-Experience with ESRI ArcGIS and MicroStation applications is required.

Rate of Pay:

$18.61 per hour

Hours of Work:

7 hours/day; 35 hours/week
