Indigenous Awareness Circle

Salon 12, Meeting Level, Shaw Conference Centre

Are you afraid of doing something wrong, so you are doing nothing with your Indigenous neighbors? Are you not sure your role as a councillor or as a member of your community in how to engage with your Indigenous neighbours?

This session is geared to people who are interested in learning where to start in engaging with their Indigenous neighbours. The Indigenous Awareness Circle is meant to be a safe space where people can ask a panel of Indigenous peoples about basic cultural awareness and with a goal of laying the groundwork for relationship building in the future. The panel will be open to answering any questions people may have that will aim to inform participants more about indigenous culture in Alberta and Canada. Even if you do not have any questions, this is a great opportunity to learn more in an informal setting.
