The Recreation Operations Coordinator is responsible for the overall physical operation of the GH Dawe Centre, Recreation Centre, and Michener Centre.

The Recreation Operations Coordinator is responsible for the overall physical operation of the GH Dawe Centre, Recreation Centre, and Michener Centre including management of human and physical resources, providing leadership to facility operation staff, technical staff, and contractors, design and management of a preventative maintenance schedule, safety initiatives, security operations, and budget/purchasing control.

Ideally to fill this role you will be have completed a two year technical diploma in Building Construction, Engineering, Building Mechanical Systems, or Architectural Technology and be eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) in Alberta through ASET, along with four years experience in facility operations management and staff supervision in a recreation environment.

In addition you will have:

  • Leadership for Safety Excellence Certificate required
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license required.
  • Able to pass RCMP Security check.
  • AARFP Supervisory Skills (or equivalent)
  • AARFP Arena Operator II
  • AARFP Building Maintenance II
  • AARFP Swimming Pool Operator II
  • Power Engineering V (preferred)
  • Knowledge of current facility trends for various sports and recreation activities.
  • Knowledge of municipal policies, procedures and bylaws and provincial regulations applicable to operation of public facilities.
  • Ability to plan, assign and supervise staff efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to work with considerable independence in supervisory and budgetary activities.
  • Ability to operate, inspect and evaluate equipment typically used in recreation facility operations and maintenance e.g. ice resurfacers, pool systems, power tools, ice plants and compressors, etc.
  • Knowledge of general construction and maintenance practices and principals; reading plans and specifications
