Salary:                    $30,000 - $34,000/year
Schedule:                17.5 hours/week, Mon. – Fri., 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Contract Term:       One year with the possibility of extension
Closing Date:          January 19, 2018 @ 8:30 a.m. or until suitable candidate is found 

Do you have an enthusiasm for recreation? Do you have a considerable amount of knowledge surrounding our local communities, recreation groups, amenities, and programming? Are you able to accommodate a flexible schedule that may include some evening and/or weekend work from time to time?

 

We are seeking an individual with excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills to join the Grande Prairie Regional Recreation Committee as our Regional Recreation Coordinator. This position reports to the committee and is supervised by the Director of Community Services with the County of Grande Prairie. 

This position is primarily responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Grande Prairie Region Joint Recreation Master Plan and for all aspects of administering the committee. 

Responsibilities include; but are not limited to,

  • Organize and facilitate the quarterly Grande Prairie Regional Recreation Committee (GPRRC) meetings, agendas, and minutes;
  • Be the primary public contact person for the GPRRC;
  • Research and prepare reports as directed by the GPRRC;
  • Manage the budget for the GPRRC administrative position;
  • Manage and edit the GPRRC website and social media to keep current and interactive;
  • Ensure good public relations on behalf of GPRRC and prepare media releases as directed;
  • Liaise with municipal members of the GPRRC and their respective Councils;
  • Make presentations to GPRRC Councils or other bodies as required;
  • Participate in special events and promotional opportunities where applicable.

 

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation, Physical Education, Management or a related program;
  • Experience with a committee or board in any sector;
  • Financial experience including budget preparation, grant applications, and report writing;
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule work projects to meet deadlines;
  • Experience working in a municipal government environment;
  • Strong computer skills including all Microsoft Office software;
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and an acceptable Criminal Record Check are required.

 

This is a contract position expected to last for one year with the possibility of extension.
