This position is responsible for the seasonal planning and coordination of the flower and shrub beds maintenance, with the primary responsibility for the plant health and care program for the flower and shrub beds. This position provides technical information and expertise for the daily operations, administers the budget, equipment and the coordination of staff which are under the supervision of the Manager and Lead of the Parks and Open Spaces department. The Horticulturalist also plays a role in representing the City of Leduc within the community as a liaison with the public and various committees, boards and charity organizations. 

As the successful candidate you will possess a post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in Ornamental Horticulture, Prairie Landscape or Master Gardener, with a minimum of three (3) years’ of related experiences or equivalent work history in horticulture. This position requires knowledge of WHMIS, TDG, OH&S, and First Aid. A valid class 3 with a Q endorsement is necessary, or must be willing to obtain it. Municipal operation experience and previous supervisory experience dealing with a variety of people will be consider strong assets. The successful candidate must be willing to provide both a current criminal record check and driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.
