    This publication looks at the use of geographic information systems (GIS) to develop a toolkit for mapping and addressing land use issues.  While there is a specific county used as the case study, this strategy could be applied to any community that faces land-use planning issues.   • Alberta Environment Pollution Prevention and Conservation
    Pollution prevention follows the same philosophy as crime prevention, disease prevention and accident prevention: 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'. Pollution Prevention means using processes, practices, materials, products or energy that avoid or minimize the creation of pollutants and waste or environmental disturbance, and reduce risk to human health or the environment. On this website, you will find information about Alberta Environment's approach to pollution prevention, how these ideas can be incorporated into an environmental management system, components of a pollution prevention plan, and Alberta's involvement in pollution prevention initiatives.   • The Canadian Centre for Pollution Prevention
    This site hosts an extensive listing of pollution prevention resources. [Go to Website]
  • Community Risk Assessment Toolkit
    The Community Risk Assessment (CRA) Toolkit is part of the wider ProVention-supported 'Community Risk Assessment and Action Planning' project.  ProVention is a global coalition of organizations dedicated to increasing the safety of vulnerable communities and to reducing the impacts of disasters in developing countries.   The toolkit aims at strengthening current community level risk assessment practice and advocates for local level risk assessment that will inform and influence disaster risk management decisions, policies and plans at sub-national and national levels.  It provides a number of case studies and methodologies.
